Hello vanpooler,
We hope you have had a great start to 2021. While this past year has been a challenging one, we are grateful that you are part of our family of smart commuters and appreciate the opportunity to continue serving you.
Here are a few updates as we settle into the new year:
LET US KNOW ABOUT COVID
If someone in your vanpool either tests positive for COVID or is exposed to someone who has tested positive, please follow these three easy steps:
- Contact our office as soon as possible so we can send someone out to disinfect your van.
- Park the van and do not use it until it has been disinfected by Pierce Transit. This is usually a same day service. Once your van has been disinfected by Pierce Transit, it is ready to use.
- Check with your employer and review the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department website to determine if your group needs to wait a few days prior to vanpooling again.
As part of our commitment to keep our customers safe and our vehicles clean and disinfected, we continue to disinfect all commuter vans at time of service and all spare vans after each use.
DISINFECTING SERVICES NOW AVAILABLE 24/7 AT PIERCE TRANSIT
The five vehicle disinfecting sites that were available throughout Pierce County are no longer in service. Disinfecting services are now available 24/7 at Pierce Transit headquarters in Lakewood.
If you would like to have your van disinfected, please call our office at 253.581.8000 (option 3, then 2) between 8 AM and 5 PM to schedule a time to come in. Further instructions will be provided during scheduling.
USE PTVANPOOL.COM FOR ONLINE FARE PAYMENTS
In November 2020, we launched the new statement and online payment system at PTVanpool.com. We’ve noticed that a few of you are still using the old online payment option at PierceTransit.org. While we appreciate you paying your fare on time, we are no longer able to process payments submitted on the old system.
Starting this month with February fares, we are discontinuing use of the old system. Payments will only be accepted at PTVanpool.com.
Here are a few helpful reminders on how to use the new system:
- Sign in at PTVanpool.com
- Review your statement
- Submit an online payment

LOST AND FOUND ITEMS
If you leave something in a spare van after you’ve returned it to us, don’t worry, we’ll contact your group. We keep all lost and found items at our building in Lakewood.
Items must be claimed within 30 days or they are eligible for donation.
Thank you for choosing to commute with Pierce Transit!
